Vietnam Airlines has resumed flights from Moscow to Hanoi

Vietnam Airlines has resumed flights from Moscow to Hanoi 26.05.2025
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party took part in the opening ceremony of the flights. Vietnam That was Lam, who was in the Russian capital celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Victory.

At the first stage, Vietnam Airlines will operate flights on the Hanoi -Moscow (Sheremetyevo) - Hanoi route twice a week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the future, taking into account the growing demand, from July 2026, the frequency of flights will increase to three flights per week. On the route, the airline uses its flagship wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, on board of which passengers are provided with a comfortable stay and a high level of service during the 9-hour flight.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, President and CEO of Vietnam Airlines, noted: "The resumption of direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow will significantly improve air traffic between Vietnam and Russia. These flights do not just connect the two countries, they serve as ambassadors, facilitating closer cooperation and mutual understanding as we enter a new era of our bilateral relations."

Russia remains one of the key tourism markets Vietnam. According to the Vietnamese National Tourism Administration, in 2024 More than 232,000 Russian tourists visited Vietnam, which is 85% more than in 2023. In the first two months of 2025 alone, 80,000 Russian tourists arrived in Vietnam, which is 204% more than in the same period last year. In 2019 Russia has taken the first place in inbound tourism among European markets.

The Moscow-Hanoi flight gives Russian travelers direct access to the richest cultural heritage Vietnam and its unique nature, as well as a wide range of transfer flights to other Southeast Asian countries. Similarly, this route provides Vietnamese passengers with more convenient access not only to Moscow, but also beyond its borders.

The resumption of flights will have a positive and stimulating impact on tourism, trade relations and cultural exchange between our countries, continuing the vector of development since 1993 – the launch of Vietnam Airlines flights to Russia.

It is expected that a 45-day visa-free regime for citizens Russia (valid until March 14, 2028) and a simplified process for obtaining an electronic visa for citizens Vietnam will significantly increase passenger traffic between the two countries. Combined with the resumption of direct flights, these conditions will actively contribute to bilateral growth.
